This is a lovely antique sterling silver water pitcher by the premier American silversmiths at Gorham in a renowned neoclassical pattern named Maintenon. Standing on a circular base this pitcher has a vase-form body with a high arched inverted helmet-shaped spout. The base is trimmed with a garland border and is decorated with strapwork and paterae, while the body is elaborately chased with scrolls, strapwork, and flowers that surround vacant cartouches on each side of the pitcher. The spout has decoration conforming the base and is trimmed with an overlapping leaf border. This pitcher has a handsome, architectural handle with lush leafy decoration that creates a dramatic silhouette. The pitcher is in excellent condition and measures approx. 10” high, the base measures approx. 4 1/2” in diameter, and it weighs approx. 36 troy ounces. It is marked under the base the maker’s mark of Gorham Manufacturing Co., the word Sterling, pattern number A10216/1, 4 ½ PINT, and the date symbol for 1925. This lovely antique silver water pitcher is a timeless design that would be appreciated for generations.   Price: $3,500.00   Stock #BD439
