| This is a beautiful sterling silver loving cup made by the premier American silversmiths at Gorham in the Art Nouveau style. This circular tiered, egg-shaped cup stands on a simple circular footring. The lower cylindrical portion of the cup forms the base and is decorated with magnificent scrolls and swirls in the whiplash style of the French Art Nouveau. The main portion of the cup has plain sides with a simple rounded band on the rim. The design is enhanced by three side handles with dramatic, C-scroll curves with organic embellishments. The most unusual design of this loving cup is both exuberant and elegant. This trophy is in excellent condition and is a fine example of Gorham’s superior craftsmanship. It has not been monogrammed but could easily be engraved to personalize it or to commemorate an event. It measures approx. 8” high, its opening is approx. 7 1/4” in diameter, and it weighs approx. 45 troy ounces. It is marked under the base with the maker’s mark of Gorham, the words Sterling and 5 Pints, pattern number A1352M, and the date symbol for 1899. This beautiful loving cup has an Art Nouveau sensibility and would make a distinction addition to any silver collection. Price: $5,500.00 Stock #BD182 |
