| This is a superb quality large sterling silver pitcher in the Arts and Crafts style, expertly made by the skilled silversmiths at the highly esteemed Buccellati Company of Italy and previously owned by the singer, Luther Vandross. Its sleekly streamlined silhouette is beautifully proportioned and has been effectively enhanced by the marks of hand hammering all over the main surface. A wide border encircling both the upper rim and the prominent pouring spout has an elegant textured finish which provides a distinctive contrast next to the subtly shimmering effect of the hand hammering. The boldly arching indented handle is unadorned and is bright and shiny, nicely providing yet more visual interest. The condition throughout is excellent and the quality of the craftsmanship is to the very highest standards. The underside of the base has been clearly stamped with the words Buccellati, Sterling and Made in Italy. The pitcher’s large and imposing size together with its provenance makes this an extremely interesting and collectable item, well worth a place in any collection of important 20th century silver. It measures approx. 6” in diameter at the base x approx. 12” at its widest point and stands 12” tall. It weighs an impressive 58 troy ounces. Price: $15,000 Stock #BD123 |
