| This is a lovely sterling silver asparagus server by New York silversmiths Redlich & Co. in a lovely Victorian design with both Rococo and neoclassical elements. This shaped, rectangular server has deep sides framed with a wide undulating rim decorated with a delicate garland of flowers, a band of laurel leaves, and trimmed with a bound reed border. The rim features decoration in the form of a Roman coin medallion in a classically styled cartouche centered on each side. It is fitted with a removable tray on four ball feet with two small handles and has been elaborately pierced in a Rococo Revival design of flowers, scrolls, and latticework. All the decoration is intricately engraved and elaborately detailed. This asparagus server is in excellent condition, and is the finest quality and gauge silver. It measures approx. 1 1/4” high, approx. 16” long, approx. 11” wide, and weighs approx. 44 troy ounces. It is marked under the base with the mark of Redlich & Co., the word Sterling, and pattern number 5855.
