| This is an elegant American emerald green crystal vase which has been handsomely decorated with fine quality sterling silver overlay in the Art Nouveau style by the Hickok Matthew Company. It has a graceful and gently undulating shape which is extremely pleasing to the eye and which has been artfully enhanced by the addition of the heavy gauge silver overlay decoration. This takes the form of four large and beautifully-detailed flowers encircling the center of the vase and completely surrounded by artfully swirling tendrils, leaves and buds in a pretty flowing organic pattern separated by narrow vertical lines. The size of the flowers is particularly noteworthy as they are unusually large with intricate and beautifully detailed craftsmanship on all the delicate petals and stamens. The leaves and buds also show meticulous and exquisite detailing of extremely fine quality. At the base, a small ovoid cartouche has been stylishly engraved with the initials L von B in an elaborate script. The rich, deep emerald green color of the crystal provides a distinctive and attractive contrast with the silver overlay decoration resulting in an object of great beauty and practicality. The glass and the silver are both in excellent, pristine condition throughout. The base has been stamped with a pattern number, 999/1000 Fine and the identifying symbol of the Hickok Matthews Company of Newark, N. J. This lovely vase would make a wonderful addition to any collection of silver overlay and would also be a smart and sophisticated accent piece in any setting.
