| This is a lovely pair of sterling silver five light candelabra by the American silversmiths Dominick & Haff in a Rococo Revival design. Each stands on a domed, wide circular base with a baluster-shaped stem and an urn shaped socket. The base is trimmed with a border of scrolls and shells, which are repeated in repoussé above and continued by spiral gadrooning that twists up the stem to the socket which supports removable arms with five-lights and conforming decoration. Additional bands of leafy scrolls embellish the design. Each of the sockets has a removable circular wax-pan with a shell border. The dynamic lines of these candelabra perfectly capture the spirited Rococo style. Each is excellent condition, and measures approx. 18” high, with bases approx. 8” in diameter. Each is marked under the base and on the arms with the word Sterling and pattern number 190, and one is also marked on the arms with the maker’s mark of Dominick and Haff. These beautiful five-light candelabra are a wonderful example of the rich style of American silver at the turn of the century. Well-made and well-proportioned these antique silver candelabra would add elegance to your table. Price: $25,000.00 pr. Stock #BC720 |
