| This is a gorgeous set of three sterling silver serving compotes by the renowned American silversmiths at the Gorham Manufacturing Company. This set is comprised of one large and two small compotes, each executed in a lacy floral pattern and with matched proportions. Each circular compote stands on a tall pedestal base and has a deep, everted rim, and is trimmed around the base and rim with a wide, lacy border. The border consists of a densely modeled band of openwork scrolls and flower baskets at intervals surrounded by intricate clusters of small flowers and a lively, scroll border. All of the decoration is exquisitely detailed and expertly crafted by the premier silversmiths at Gorham. Each piece is in excellent condition and has the maker’s mark of Gorham and the word sterling, the date symbol for 1906, pattern number 523A, and also number 5711A on each of the smaller compotes. The large compote measures approx. 5” high and 12” in diameter, and each small compote measures approx. 4” high and 9” in diameter, and together the set weighs approx. 78 troy ounces.
