This is a fabulous sterling silver gravy boat and ladle by the renowned Philadelphia Silversmiths at J.E. Caldwell & Co. This rare gravy boat has a dramatically curved boat-shape body standing on three shell-pad feet. The entire body is embellished with chased and repousséd decoration of flowers and leaves against a matte, textured background in the Baltimore-style. The gravy boat has a charming handle, realistically formed as a tree branch wrapped with a leafy vine. Also with the gravy boat is a sterling silver ladle, with a plain bowl and elaborately decorated with wavy scrolls in various sizes that curl down the handle. Both pieces are in excellent condition, and show exceptional craftsmanship and texture. Both marked with the maker’s mark of J.E. Caldwell & Company and the word sterling. The gravy boat measure approx. 5 ½” high and 8” long over the handle, while the ladle measures approx. 7” long, and together both weigh approx. 13.5 troy ounces. This gorgeous antique gravy boat and ladle is sure to add charm to any table setting.   Price: $3,250 set   Stock #BC594
