| This is a gorgeous and unusual sterling silver vase by Tiffany & Co. in the Art Nouveau style. This stunning trumpet shaped vase stand on a flared, circular base and has a lovely flaring body with a curved and everted rim and two whiplash curved side handles that sensuously curl from the bottom of the vase to the lip of the rim and embellished with leafy accents. The front of the vase body has been exquisitely engraved with the design of a poppy flower in full bloom with two poppy buds and leaves. The poppy motif was immensely popular at the end of the 19th century as a symbol of death and remembrance. The beautiful serpentine lines of this vase create a stunning silhouette that is the epitome of this design movement. This vase measures approx. 12” high, 7” wide, has an opening of approx. 4 1/2” in diameter, and it weighs approx. 26 troy ounces. It is in excellent condition and is marked under the base with the mark of Tiffany & Co., the words Makers, Sterling Silver 925-1000, pattern number 15683, order number 6421, the letter C for Charles T.
