| This lovely American sterling silver water pitcher is beautifully decorated with superb quality repousee work in a pretty floral design and was made by Tiffany, America’s premier silversmith, under the tenure of Charles L. Tiffany. It has a sturdy, nicely-rounded body which has been prettily and effectively highlighted by swirling diagonal bands, each of which contains a lavish profusion of assorted repousse flowers. These have all been beautifully made with great skill and precision, each showing exquisite attention to detail on even the smallest leaf and petal. The pitcher’s upper portion and its neat, compact handle have been charmingly accented by single floral motifs set amidst scrolling leaf forms. The result is a pitcher which is not only eminently practical but which is also delightfully decorative. It is in superb, pristine condition and the repousse work has been made to the very highest standards and is crisply and clearly defined throughout. The base of the pitcher has been stamped with a pattern number and the words Tiffany & Co. Makers, Sterling Silver 925-1000. It bears the T mark to denote the presidency of Charles L. Tiffany who was in charge of the company between the years 1891-1902. At the opposite side of the base the pitcher’s capacity, 6 ¼ pints, has also been stamped. This stylish piece would add a pouch of elegance and refinement to any table and would also look particularly lovely if filled with flowers. It measures approx. 4 ½” in diameter at the base and stands approx. 8 ¼” tall. It weighs a substantial 28.5 troy ounces. Price: $7,000.00 Stock # BC199 |
