| This is an exceptionally fine sterling silver chafing dish by premier American silversmiths the Gorham Manufacturing Company. This circular chafing dish is comprised of a sterling silver stand or frame supported on three exuberant cabriole legs with bold, leafy embellishments and claw feet. The stand holds a deep, circular burner with a turned ivory handle and a removable circular lid with button-capped, hinged and removable wick holders. This chafing dish has a deep, removable sterling silver liner fitted with a circular bowl with a wide rim trimmed with a shaped, scroll and fleur-de-lis border with a lovely turned ivory handle. The dish has a conforming shaped and lobed lid with a scroll border and leafy, banded ring finial. Each piece is in excellent condition and has the maker’s mark of Gorham, the date symbols for 1894, pattern number 5, and the word Sterling. This chafing dish stands approx. 10” high and its bowl measures approx. 9 1/4” in diameter, and all the pieces together weigh approx. 89.5 troy ounces.
