| This is a lovely sterling silver chocolate pot made in France in the transitional style of Louis XVI silver, combining Rococo naturalism and exuberance with neoclassical motifs. This elegant chocolate pot has a tapering cylindrical body with a soft, curved base and a low-domed, circular hinged lid. Both the rim of the lid and the pot are trimmed with an elegant bound-reed border accented with beautiful acanthus leaves and bellflowers. The short spout of the chocolate pot has a lovely curl and beautifully leafy designs with tremendous detail and movement. The lid of the pot has a berry finial that is hinged to insert a molinet or muddling stick, traditionally used to stir the melted chocolate. This chocolate pot also has an elegant turned wood, side handle with a lovely baluster socket trimmed with a bound-reed border. This pot is in excellent condition and is marked with the French Minerva hallmark, and weighs approx. 23.5 troy ounces. This beautiful chocolate pot is suitable decorated in the French style appropriate for this sophisticated drink that was popularized there in the 18th century.
