This is a lovely sterling silver vinaigrette made by the Birmingham silversmith Matthew Linwood. The lid of this hinged, rectangular box is decorated with a central, rectangular medallion that could be engraved against a background of bright-cut diaper-work. The bottom has a guilloche border with a bright-cut bellflower at the center. This wonderful, neoclassical decoration shows excellent contrast in one piece, and the fine details show off this silversmith’s skills. The gold-washed interior has a hinged grille with a dotted border, and a central panel of open, wirework scrolls. This box is in excellent condition, and is marked on the inside bottom of the box. It measures approx. 1/2” high, 1 5/8” long and 1” wide, and has a wire loop at the top for hanging. This is a wonderful vinaigrette with wonderful decoration.   Price: $700.00   Stock #AL652
