Here is a lovely and useful sterling silver and mixed metal bowl by the Gorham Manufacturing Company. This deep circular bowl features a wide rim that has been ornamented with applied mixed metal decoration in the popular style of the Aesthetic Movement. The applied decoration is a sheath of wheat on a bed of granulated metal, a small bird, a grasshopper perched on a dandelion, and a band with figures in neoclassical costumes flanking a mask with swags, which are executed in a highly artistic manner. The bowl is stamped under the base with the identifying marks of the Gorham Manufacturing Co., the word Sterling, pattern number MYA, and the retailer’s name Bigelow-Kennard & Co. It measures approx. 6 7/8" in diameter, and is in excellent condition. This bowl is a wonderful example of the elegance of Anglo-Japanese design in the late 19th century.   Price: $2,000.00   Stock #AV973
