| Here is a very lovely French crystal jewel box, sumptuously enhanced by fine quality gilded bronze decoration made to the very highest standards in the neo-classical style.
It sits comfortably upon 4 slightly raised feet in the shape of scrolling acanthus leaves and has been surrounded on all 4 sides, at both the top and the base, by rows of miniature beadwork.
The interior has been beautifully lined with tufted satin fabric in a pretty shade of emerald green and, as a delightful design accent, exquisite little pearls have been attached to the surface in an attractive geometric pattern.
The vibrant green color is clearly visible through the clear bevelled glass panels on the hinged lid and on all 4 sides and this, in combination with the warm golden coloring of the gilding creates a most attractive look of richness and opulence.
The exceptional Bronze Dore decoration is quite wonderful and its intricate and beautifully executed design of neo-classical swags, ribbons, garlands and flowers swirls sinuously around the meticulously crafted forms of female figures dressed in long flowing robes and equipped with finely-feathred wings.
Each of these females is holding or playing a musical instrument with the exception of the central figure on the lid who stands with arms and wings raised between a pair of stylised horns of plenty.
All the decorative elements have been rendered with extraordinary skill by and expert craftsperson resulting in a box of great beauty and quality,.
It is in perfect condition and the details o the gilding are particurarly crisp and nicely-defined.
There are no visible maker's marks, but this is of no cause for concern as many of these bronze dore items were not marked.
This enchanting jewel box would make an ideal gift for that special someone and would be the ideal focal point for any dressing table or vanity area.
