| This charming sterling silver creamer was designed by Johan Rohde for the renowned Danish silversmith Georg Jensen. It has a soft, bulbous body with a gently curved rim that forms the spout. The lower half of the body has been chased with a fluted design. The fluted wooden handle is fitted into tapering silver sockets, the top one bifurcating into a leaf and pod motif. This piece retains its beautiful hand-hammered finish, and is in overall excellent condition. It is engraved under the base, “Mary Macauley Whiting and Henry Whiting 1928.” It measures approx. 4 1/2" tall, and is clearly marked under the base with pattern number 45, the words Sterling, Denmark, with Jensen’s maker’s mark, and the designer’s mark for Johan Rohde. This piece was designed by Rohde in 1915 and demonstrates Jensen’s preference for naturalistic motifs combined with an Arts and Crafts sensibility. Price: $1,200.00 Stock #BB221 |
