GEORG JENSEN DANISH SILVER COFFEE POT 1928

This beautiful sterling silver coffee pot was designed by Johan Rohde for the renowned Danish silversmith Georg Jensen. It has a soft, bulbous body with a short, gently curved spout, and circular, low-domed lid. The lower half of the body has been chased with a fluted design, which is repeated on the top of the lid encircling the ball finial. The fluted wooden handle is fitted into tapering silver sockets, the top one bifurcating into a leaf and pod motif. This piece is representative of Jensen’s timeless modern designs and shows the firm’s distinct use of natural motifs. This piece retains its beautiful hand-hammered finish, and is in overall excellent condition. It is engraved under the base, “Mary Macauley Whiting and Henry Whiting 1928.” It is clearly marked under the base with pattern number 45, the words Sterling, Denmark, with Jensen’s maker’s mark, and the designer’s mark for Johan Rohde. It measures approx. 9 1/2" tall, and weighs approx. 18.5 troy ounces. This piece was designed by Rohde in 1915 and shows the influence of Jensen’s early work and the Arts and Crafts aesthetic.   Price: $4,500.00   Stock #BB220
