Here is a pair of beautiful sterling silver compotes by Theodore B. Starr that are an exquisite Victorian design. These large circular compotes stand on pedestal bases, and are very decorative. Both the rim of the compote and the base are both exquisitely decorated with pierced, fan-like motifs, and a scalloped band of chased and repoussé flowers and scrolls. Also, both the edge of the compote and the base are trimmed with a molded shell and scroll border. All of the elements are rendered in beautiful detail and are very finely worked. Each compote is in excellent condition, and measures approx. 5 1/2” high, approx. 12 3/4” in diameter, and together weighs approx. 59 troy ounces. One is marked under the base with the mark of Theodore B. Starr, a star symbol, the word Sterling, and pattern number 706, and the other is marked under the base with the mark of Theodore B. Starr, a group of marks including the sterling standard and the date 1919, the words Sterling and 12 IN, and pattern number 706. The large size of these lovely compotes would make a distinctive statement on any table.   Price: $7,500.00 pair   Stock #AX658
