This is a striking sterling silver salver by silversmiths Thomas Bradbury and John Henderson, a partnership from the well-known family firm of Bradbury and Sons, Sheffield. This circular salver is supported on four scroll and hoof feet, the center is engraved with a coat-of-arms, crest and motto “NON CRUX SED LUX” centered in a cartouche of crossed laurel branches. The salver has a deep rim with a molded and pierced decorative border featuring laurel swags hung at intervals from neoclassical urns and profile medallions across a pierced background. The edge of the border is a shaped, rolling scallop design. This salver is in excellent condition with very crisp decoration, and is of the finest quality of manufacture. It measures approx. 1 1/4” high, approx. 12 1/2” in diameter, and weighs 30 troy ounces. It is fully hallmarked, has the maker’s mark of Thomas Bradbury and John Henderson, the number 7526, and another mark, possibly a retailer’s mark, on the reverse. Unusual decoration combined with expert craftsmanship makes this a remarkable piece.   Price: $3,250.00   Stock #BB424
