ANTIQUE SILVER OVERLAY PERFUME BOTTLES CIRCA 1910

This is a pair of stylish and beautiful American sterling silver overlay on clear crystal perfume bottles. Each one has a classical and beautifully-proportioned form and has been crowned with a large and distinctively-shaped matching stopper. The pretty sterling silver overlay decoration consists of elegantly intertwining curvilinear spirals which swirl artfully all around the surfaces of both the bottles and the stoppers in a most attractive manner. The front of each bottle has been centered by a heart-shaped cartouche neatly engraved with an elaborate monogram of the letters FR. Both bottles are in excellent condition and have been marked around their upper rims with a pattern number and the words Silver Deposit. There is no maker's mark visible but this is no cause for concern as a great deal of silver overlay was left unmarked. These pieces are well-made and are fine examples of the silver overlay technique. Although each one has the same pattern number and design there are subtle differences in the execution of the design which charmingly highlights the individual nature of these unique handcrafted items. Each bottle is approx. 4 1/2" at the widest point and stands 6 1/2" tall. They can be purchased separately or as a pair, but will make an elegant design statement either way.   Price: $895.00 each   Stock #AS668,669
