| This is a lovely coin silver wine goblet by Gorham with the most charming decoration. Supported on a stepped circular foot with a delicate beaded band, and plain stem, the goblet has four oval panels each with different chased and repoussé decoration, including poppies, acorns, leaves, berries, and flowers, each against a background of different hammering and textures. One panel features a decorative border of leaves, grapes and berries surrounding a plain field. Each panel is surrounded by a chased diaper-work pattern. The variety of the decoration on this goblet makes this a very unique and charming piece that also shows off the tremendous skills of the Gorham silversmiths. This goblet is in excellent condition with beautifully articulated chasing and repoussé , and only typical wear. It measures approx. 6 1/2” high, and 3 ¼” in diameter. It is marked under the base of the goblet with the mark of the Gorham Manufacturing Company with the lion standing on its haunches indicating 1850-65, the word Coin, the letter D, and pattern number 15.
