Mixed metal and hand-hammered sterling silver salad serving pair. Made by Whiting in New York, ca 1885. This pair comprises spoon with shaped ovalish bowl, and fork with shaped and pierced 4-tine shank. Each handle has applied crab and cattail and engraved leafing branches. A modish mix of Craftsman and Japonesque. The very Victorian lady’s name Adelaide is engraved on terminals. Fully marked including maker’s and retailer’s (Theodore B. Starr) stamps. Very good condition.
