The silver neck, spout, handle and pedestal are decorated with a classic French rococo design consisting of shells, figural scroll work and acanthus leaves and a decorative figural shell and scroll finial adds a final flourish. This is a fine English Sterling Silver Gilt and Etched Crystal Decanter. A beautiful bulbous design mounted in sterling on the cover with a standing lion and shield, the lion is finely molded with a long mane very finely defined. Around the neck is a horned satyr* with a large and small beading above and below. The crystal body is finely etched with bunches of grapes and grape leaf. Cover is on a hinge. A bell shaped etched Crystal Decanter with an ornate Sterling Silver stopper in the highly coveted “Chrysanthemum” pattern. Henry Wilkinson of Birmingham, England made this elegant Victorian Sterling Silver Mounted Decanter in 1870. The neck is applied with a three-dimensional beautifully pierced, chased and engraved sterling collar with handle and hinged lid. This sterling silver mounted cut glass decanter was made by the silversmithing firm of Edward Streeter, London, in 1902. It is fully hallmarked on both the sterling silver hinged lid and collar. The cut glass body is cut in a hobnail motif with 4 heart shaped sections. The silver lid, collar and handle are repousse and chased with floral, scroll and foliate motifs. The decanter is in excellent estate condition with little or no evidence of wear. Height: 10 3/4 Inches.
