An Antique American Sterling Silver Overlay Decanter adorned with an ornate overlay design of grapes and leaves. The neck of the decanter is eight sided glass. The finial is fully silvered and is decorated with a figural bunch of grapes. A finely engraved inscription on the stopper reads “WMC” in script. Made by Alvin Company, Providence, Rhode Island- one of the premier makers of silver overlay. Circa 1890. Fully Hallmarked. Excellent Condition. Lovely Patina. Height- 11 in. Width- 5 ½ in.

This beautiful 19th century decanter is overlaid with silver in the Art Nouveau manner. The overlay consists of scenes of birds amidst foliage. The body is of bell shape with a silver floral decorated detachable lid. The central cartouche form reserve is hand engraved with the monogram “R” in the Gothic style. Height: 8 3/8 inches. This sterling silver mounted cut glass decanter was made by the silversmithing firm of Edward Streeter, London, in 1902. It is fully hallmarked on both the sterling silver hinged lid and collar. The cut glass body is cut in a hobnail motif with 4 heart shaped sections. The silver lid, collar and handle are repousse and chased with floral, scroll and foliate motifs. The decanter is in excellent estate condition with little or no evidence of wear. Height: 10 3/4 Inches.
