This is a lovely Sterling Silver Soup Ladle made by Tiffany & Co., New York, in the Richelieu pattern, Circa 1900. The Richelieu pattern was first made in 1892 and was designed by Paulding Farnum, one of Tiffany’s most creative and prolific designers. Tiffany no longer makes the Richelieu pattern and pieces of this caliber are not easily found. The soup ladle is hand engraved with an elegant entwined script monogram (BMS). This pie server was made circa 1937 in a pattern that was manufactured to commemorate the Centennial of Tiffany’s founding in 1837. The only pieces made in this pattern were a Salad Serving Fork, a Salad Serving Spoon, a Pie Slice (as shown here), a Salad Bowl and a coordinating circular Serving Dish. In the late nineteenth century, Tiffany & Co. manufactured numerous pieces of flatware outside the realm of their flatware services for the table. This bonbon spoon is a prime example of unique pieces made during that period. This spoon has a beautifully styled shell shaped bowl with traces of the original gilding as well as a beautifully scripted monogram. This elegant shell shaped bon bon dish was made by Tiffany and Co., New York. It is fully hallmarked with Tiffany & Co.’s maker’s mark, sterling, “makers”, pattern number 22478 and “m” for pieces made between 1907 and 1947. The sequence of the pattern number dates this piece to 1937. The bon bon dish is in the shape of a scallop shell and would add presence to any room in the house. Weight: 4.7 Troy Ounces. Length: 5 1/2 inches. Condition: Excellent.

This form of sandwich tong was a style unique to Tiffany & Co. It is one of the highly collected pieces of Tiffany flatware in the Lap over Edge pattern. The piece is fully marked with Tiffany’s hallmark as well as engraved with the type of acid etched design of “Dogwood Berries.” It is marked with the date letter of “m” for a piece made between 1907 and 1947.
