The pitcher is of amorphous form, raised on a simple rim foot. The pitcher is fully hallmarked on the underside of base with Tiffany’s maker’s mark, pattern number 6885, “M” for pieces made between 1873 and 1891, sterling mark and 2 1/4 pints for the capacity. It was made by Eoff and Shepard, New York City, and was retailed by Ball, Black and Co., also of New York. AMERICAN STERLING SILVER WATER PITCHER, CIRCA 1910 AY574This is a very unusual sterling silver water pitcher in the Paul Revere style. What makes it unusual is that the body, which is usually plain, is acid etched with a crackle pattern. This dates the piece to the first quarter of the 20th century, which is when this technique was being done on silver.
