This stately tray was made by Matthew Boulton of Birmingham circa 1820, during the George IV Regency Period. The tray is of scalloped oval form with gadroon border, the rimis engraved with a crest of a stag. The underside is hallmarked with Matthew Boulton's double sunburst maker's mark. The underside shows slight evidence of copper showing through. The rim bears remnants of wire of the rolled edge. A dynamic American Art Nouveau Figural Nude Sterling Silver Card Tray made by Gorham Mfg. Corp., Providence, Rhode Island. This shaped tray depicts the profile of a cigar-smoking gentleman exhaling from a cigar. The smoke then spirals up to form a figural “portrait” of a naked woman.
