It is a classic, but elegant shaker, and has a very versatile design.

It measures 8” X 2 ½”. This lovely shaker would make a wonderful addition to your holiday table.

Hallmarked on the inside rim of the removable cover and also worn marks on the outside edge bottom. Nicely pierced cover, with a fluted edge. Chased inside of the flutes all around the shaker. French Silver Sugar Shaker By Lancon Circa 1880 BC175Of inverted pear shape, the screw top pierced with lattice motif, cast and chased with scroll form decoration. The body chased with conforming entwined scroll work, raised on four leaf-capped scroll form feet. 16.5 troy oz. height 7 1/2".
This exquisite sugar shaker is a prime example of the Art of French silversmithing. The gilding is original to the piece, and the applied scroll work decoration amplifies the inverted pear shape of the castor.
