Stands on a round base. It is a classic, but elegant shaker, and has a very versatile design. Fully hallmarked on the bottom with Sterling and pattern #94798. It measures 8” X 2 ½”. 18TH CENTURY Sugar Castor with swirled fluted decoration. Hallmarked on the inside rim of the removable cover and also worn marks on the outside edge bottom. Nicely pierced cover, with a fluted edge. Chased inside of the flutes all around the shaker. Chasing in excellent condition. Some solder repair along the lip on the base and also underneath, not very noticeable and does not effect the integrity of this 200 year old piece. The shaker is hand hammered, with a rounded body, the detachable bayonet mechanism lid of tapered form pierced and engraved with berry style motifs.
