Howard and Company, New York City, was known for manufacturing silver holloware of the highest caliber. This salt and pepper set consists of a pair of open salts with gilt interiors, and a pair of peppershakers with detachable lids. The set is made in an American interpretation of the Georgian style. This is a very large pair of Tiffany salt and pepper. Applied decoration around the top edge includes fleur de lis and flower heads, around the middle of the shakers are scrolls and flowers. Very heavy weight. Nice patina and condition. Hallmarked with a full Tiffany mark, Tiffany & Co, 13984 Makers 505, Sterling Silver, 925-1000, C. The C mark dates the pair to Circa 1902. Height 6 1/4 inches.
