This is a beautiful shell shaped bon bon dish made as a reproduction of an English George III period butter dish. It has a pierced porringer style handle attached to a 3 ball footed scallop shell form bowl. The piece is fully marked on the underside with makers mark of Old Newbury Crafters, Newburyport, MA, sterling and style number WB141. This bon bon dish would grace the presence of any style room. This beautiful swan form sterling dish with etched glass insert was made in Germany, circa 1890. It was made in the sterling silver standard and was most likely made for export. The swan’s body is realistically engraved, chased and repousse with feather decoration. The interior is silver gilt.
