Arts and Crafts Sterling Compote by Houghton 1905
BF309This compote by Houghton, Ltd. is a specimen example of hand hammered silver produced in the Arts and Crafts period. The compote is marked “McCahill & Houghton Sterling” on the base, and “Houghton Ltd” on the interior rim of the base. The compote is entirely hand hammered, with the exception of the three sinuous cast handles connecting the bowl to the domed pedestal base.
