This is a prime example of the synergy of American silversmithing and American glassworks at its finest. The footed cut crystal centerpiece is of lemon-lime ground with a clear wreath form cut decoration of clusters of cherries suspended from a branch on the body as well as circular pedestal foot. The crystal is very finely executed and is surmounted by a sterling silver border by Gorham Mfg. This compote was made by Gorham Mfg. Co. of Providence, RI circa 1915. The compote is hallmarked on the underside of the dish with Gorham’s maker’s mark, sterling and pattern #A2806. Gorham began manufacturing Plymouth pattern sterling flatware in 1911. Holloware in the Plymouth pattern was made to coordinate with the flatware. This would be an added conversation piece to any home. Weight: 11 Troy Ounces. Diameter: 8 1/2 Inches. Condition: Excellent.
