Pair of fancy sterling silver serving bowls. Made by Tiffany & Co. in New York. Each: Oval well, tapering sides, and scrolled and asymmetrical rim. Leaf-mounted reeded bracket end handles with scallop shell, and 4 leaf-mounted and capped paw supports. Dense floral repousse on stippled ground. Gilt-washed interior. Hallmark includes pattern no. 6088 (first produced in 1880) and director’s letter M (1873-91). Very good condition.

Duke of Windsor Association: A sterling silver trophy cup that he won for the light-weight Hog Hunters race at the Kadir Meeting, which took place at the end of his Indian tour in 1922. At the time Edward was Prince of Wales, a young man of dash and glamor, and the contest was an annual event for the pukka-sahib sport of pig-sticking. The presentation reads in full: Kadir Meeting / March 15th 1922 / Hog Hunters Cup / Major Colin West’s “Bombay Duck” / (H.R.H. Prince of Wales).
