LOETZ SILVER OVERLAY ART GLASS VASE C 1900 BE990This beautifully crafted iridescent glass and silver overlay vase was made by the Loetz factory of Austria, circa 1900. The sterling silver overlay engraved floral motif is signed with the hallmark of Alvin Mfg. Co., Providence, RI and “patented 74 925/1000.” The vase itself is made of amber, yellow and blue iridescent glass and is etched with “14” on the underside of the base. The ovoid body is overlaid and applied with a finely engraved undulating Art Nouveau silver overlay decoration of flowers amidst foliage by Gorham Mfg. Co. of Providence, RI. The vase has the engraved mark of Quezal and D1150 on the underside of the base. The silver overlay design is hallmarked with Gorham’s maker’s mark. LOETZ SILVER OVERLAY ART GLASS VASE C 1900 BE989This beautifully crafted iridescent glass and silver overlay vase was made by the Loetz factory circa 1900. Its colors typify the Loetz patented glass process of the deep blue or gold metallic shades for which Loetz is known. The vase has an engraved number 1137 on the underside of the base. The body is overlaid with a silver Art Nouveau style rendering of a flower amidst foliage. This is a true collectors piece. Height: 6 3/4 Inches. Condition: Excellent original estate condition.

Although, the vase is of very high quality, like many other overlay pieces of the period, the silver is unmarked. The vase has a scratch mark (272X 221-) under the base, which probably indicates the pattern number when the vase was originally manufactured.
