This is a beautiful 18 karat yellow gold antique French thimble. It bears the French eagle’s head hallmark indicating that the thimble is made of 18 karat gold, and the maker’s mark of Jacob Levy of Paris, circa 1870 (see Dictionnaire des poincons de fabricants d’ouvrages d’or et d’argent, No.02578). A stunning Antique Austrian Silver Figural Eagle Head and Ivory Cigar Cutter. The figural silver Eagle’s head is magnificent; the beak is beautifully formed and it is finely etched to depict the soft, layered feathering of the bird. And the garnet eyes add a nice touch.
