The vase is fully hallmarked under the base with Tiffany’s maker’s mark, pattern #3701, order #6469, indicating that the piece was made around 1874, sterling silver, 925-1000, and “M” for pieces made between 1873 and 1891. Fabulous Pair of Antique Tiffany & Co., New York, Sterling Silver and Mixed Metals Salt and Pepper Shakers, Circa 1878. The shakers are designed in a gourd shape, one applied with sterling fish and engraved with seaweed, the other with mixed metal appliqués (gold, copper and silver) of a gourd, dragonfly, leaves and a butterfly.
