A beautiful English Sterling Silver and Enamel Compact featuring an enamel scene of a female rider and her stead accompanied by a group of hounds. The back of the compact is decorated with a classic design of engine turned engraving. Within the compact is a mirror that is in perfect condition and an unencumbered space for pressed powder. This is a wonderful piece of Viennese Enamel by the well known maker Hermann Boehm. Set on a six sided silver and enamel base, a silver winged cherub is supporting the cornucopia horn on his back. The wings of the cherub are enameled and he is carrying a silver bow. There are 15 different enamel scenes, inside the top is a scene with Neptune, many other scenes show bare breasted women bathing, telling secrets and conversing. The sterling silver cover is decorated with a lavender guilloche enamel design and a white enamel border. This is a classic example of enameled sterling and cut glass perfume bottles made in America in the early 20th century. The silver mounted stopper is enameled with yellow enamel over a geometric guilloche ground. The cut glass perfume bottle is decorated with flower heads and scrollwork. The stopper is marked Sterling and an illegible maker’s mark. Height: 3 3/4 inches. The perfume bottle is in very good condition
