A Lovely American Sterling Silver inkwell. Of circular shape with a removable cover. Has the original glass liner that cover fits snugly around. Applied French Revival sterling silver mounts around the middle of the Inkwell include crowns, flames, wreaths and a flame finial topping off the whole design on the cover. Nice patina and condition. This stately Victorian period sterling silver Inkstand was made by Martin Hall & Co. of Sheffield, England, in 1885. It is fully hallmarked on the Inkstand as well as the collars and hinged lids of the two sterling mounted cut glass inkwells. This is a stately Goodnow and Jenks sterling silver mounted Inkstand with an inlaid mahogany base. The sterling penholder and the sterling tops of the crystal bottles are all marked with Goodnow and Jenks’ hallmark and sterling. This is a very elegant silver and pale pink enamel inkwell. The enamel is over an engine turned, or guilloche, wave pattern ground. The inkwell has a domed hinged lid with conforming enamel and guilloche decoration. The inkwell is unmarked and is probably of American origin.
