An American Sterling Silver Porringer with a decorative pierced scroll handle. Made by Gorham Mfg. Co., Providence, R.I., circa 1930. Fully Hallmarked. Excellent Condition. Nice Finish. 4.2 Troy Ounces. Good Weight. The porringer measures 4 ¾ in. in diameter (bowl only) and stands 1 ½ in. high.
This porringer was made by the New York silversmiths, Howard and Company, in 1903. The rim of the body and pierced handle is beautifully decorated with an applied border of scrolls and foliate motifs. This porringer is so magnificently designed and executed, that it serves many purposes other than a baby’s porringer. It could be used for candies, nuts or bonbons, as well. Weight: 9 Troy Ounces. Length over handle: 8 1/4 Inches. Condition: Very Good Estate Condition
