This is an absolutely gorgeous and fine 18 Karat Yellow Gold, Diamond and Enamel Locket, attributed to Eugene Fontenay, one of France’s foremost 19th Century Jewelers, Circa 1860. The locket is unsigned, but many of Fontenay’s pieces were not signed until the late 1860’s. Eugene Richet, who was a well know miniaturist and painted Fontenay’s plaques used in his jewelry, probably enameled this particular locket. This is a gorgeous Antique 18kt Gold, Enamel, and Diamond Beetle Watch, made in France, the finely enameled wings opening to reveal a white enamel dial with Roman numerals. The underside realistically depicts the beetle’s legs and belly. The bale is hallmarked with French 18 Karat Gold marks. This is one of the best beetle watches we have seen.
