Buy And Sell Antique Silver And Estate Silver

Nelson & Nelson Antiques has had 35 years experience buying and selling antique silver. We are experts at evaluating your sterling silver and pay the most competitive prices. We are experts at evaluating your antique and estate silver. Examples of what we are buying and selling are Tiffany Silver, Buccellati Silver and Georg Jensen Silver. With the price of sterling silver at its highest in three decades, there's never been a better time to sell silver antiques that may no longer work with your décor or are simply collecting dust. We will buy any piece of antique silver and sterling silver from small items to large including complete estate lots of sterling silver. Sterling flatware and silverware sets along with tea and coffee sets are desirable to us. Nelson & Nelson never scraps sterling silver, so you're assured that what you sell us will be lovingly curated.

What we buy:

Nelson and Nelson buys antique sterling silver, not silverplate or coins. So how do you know if your antique is made of sterling? Most sterling silver is hallmarked. Hallmarks are small stamps in the silver that can indicate the manufacturer, date and/or location of manufacture, or the purity of the silver. Our basic rule of thumb:

• European sterling silver is hallmarked and/or may be marked with the number "800."

• English sterling silver must feature at least four hallmarks: the Lion Passant, city mark, maker mark and date letter.

• American sterling is always hallmarked on the bottom of the piece, the marks will be one of the following, sterling, sterling silver, coin [900 silver], or the number equivalent for sterling silver 925/1000.
